Technical situation today

It is well known fact, that humanist occupations are very popular today. Since childhood a lot of young people believe such speciality to be very promising. With such an viewpoint they are reared in their families, go to school, to a institute and at last they begin rearing their own children that way. Impasse.
Why is it so? What do make people think that manual operations have lost their significance?
There are several motives.
firstly present machinery has got such a high degree of growth that society is capable of running it without having special technological knowledge. Consequently there is no need for further dissemination of technical knowledge. Humanits application starts dominating in all fields of life.
Secondly it is an actual fact that we exist in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to describe the world around and consume things, but not to produce something by themselves. Naturally this fact does not affect positively on dissemination of engineering education. People are simply not interested in it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has reached such a level of devastation that we frequently have no place for work after studying the theory.
at last a very significant thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it suppose as asked-for today? We can easily get to know it by watching our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what ways of life do they popularize today? It is easy to prove that they are full of humanist images. Mass-media show us easy way of life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a in the issue?
Lack of expert workers in the engineering sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a modern jointer planer. This will lead to a dangerous situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally destroyed. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no qualified lecturers able to train adequate personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our state do in order to correct the state? it is clear that there are several actions to be taken. firstly our country should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. Then our country should apply efforts in order to popularize technical professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to preserve technical professions is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
